One-day tours

Three listings offer Troy in one day from Istanbul. They are similar: early-morning pickup, the road south-west, the Dardanelles crossing, lunch, the site visit and a late return. The differences are in the details, to be read on each listing: whether site and museum entry is included, lunch too, the guide's language, the departure time. Some offers only pick up from hotels on the European side.

Two-day tours

The two tours (first, second) avoid the marathon: you sleep in the Çanakkale area (confirm the hotel and meals on the listing). It is the only option that leaves time for the Troy museum. If Gallipoli is your first interest, read our comparison Gallipoli from Istanbul: which tour.

The Troy site: good to know

According to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism's brochure, the site is open daily from 8:30 am to 8 pm from 1 April to 1 October, and from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm the rest of the year, with the ticket office closing half an hour earlier. The entry fee could not be confirmed for 2026: check it. The site has no shade, so bring a hat, water and walking shoes. For details of the places, see Troy and Gallipoli from Istanbul.

Pitfalls and what is not included

  • Length: 15 to 16 hours for a day trip, mostly on the bus. Not advised with young children.
  • Entry: do not assume it is included, read the "included" section.
  • Time on site: a day trip usually leaves little time at the site; compare it from one listing to another.
  • Ranking: the order on GetYourGuide is influenced by commissions; read recent reviews.
