Barış Manço Museum in Moda: the Turkish singer's house, opening hours and tickets
The Barış Manço Museum (Barış Manço Müzesi, also called Barış Manço Evi) stands in Moda, in the Kadıköy district on the Asian side, in the house where one of Turkey's best-known rock singers (1943-1999) lived. He also hosted a hugely popular children's television programme. Kadıköy municipality turned the house into a museum: you see stage souvenirs, instruments, awards and the furniture of the home. It is a short visit of about 45 minutes to an hour, much loved by Turks; the museum is closed on Mondays.
Highlights

The house in Moda
A 19th-century European-style mansion on a quiet street of the neighbourhood, described as the former residence of a British merchant family of Moda. A statue of the singer greets visitors at the entrance.

The piano
A bronze statue of the singer sits at the grand piano in the drawing room, among the crockery and objects of the house.
Stage costumes and instruments
The outfits worn in concert and the instruments tell a career that blends Anatolian rock and popular songs.
Personal objects
The museum also shows furniture and household objects, which make the visit feel like a lived-in home rather than an exhibition hall.
The Moda neighbourhood
After the visit, the street leads in a few minutes to the Moda waterfront.

Tips
- The ticket cost 25 TL in February 2024; we found no published price for October 2026 and it may have changed: check at the ticket desk, or ask the museum on +90 216 337 94 13. If you do not know Barış Manço, the visit speaks first to those who grew up with his songs; still, the atmosphere of the house and its neighbourhood are worth the detour. We could not check the language of the labels: be ready to read a little Turkish or use a translation app. Combine the visit with a walk in Moda, see Moda and its waterfront, the Tuesday market in Kadıköy or the day described in Kadıköy and the Asian side. Another museum on the Asian side: the Istanbul Toy Museum. For more ideas, see the best museums in Istanbul.
