The Rahmi M. Koç Museum, in Hasköy on the northern shore of the Golden Horn, is Istanbul's major museum of industry, transport and communications. Opened in 1994 around the collection of the industrialist Rahmi M. Koç, it covers 27,000 m² spread between a former Ottoman anchor foundry, the Lengerhane, and the Hasköy shipyard on the waterfront. Vintage cars, locomotives, aircraft, boats, steam engines, scientific instruments and toys are on display in their thousands. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday; an adult ticket costs 1,000 TL. Allow two to three hours.
Highlights

The Fenerbahçe ferry
Moored along the museum quay, this Bosphorus steamer was built in 1952 in Scotland for the Şirket-i Hayriye company and withdrawn from service in 2008. It is the largest object in the collection. A café operates on board.

The Rosalie tug
The museum presents this small steam tug as one of the oldest in the world, with its 95 hp compound steam engine, a model that has become rare. It belongs to the maritime collection, alongside fishing boats, launches and marine engines.

Aircraft and vehicles
The galleries cover land transport, rail, aviation and the sea: classic cars, motorcycles, railway equipment, engines and aircraft, including a Northrop NF-5A fighter.
The Lengerhane
The museum's first building is a foundry where anchors and chains were forged for the Ottoman arsenal, built during the reign of Ahmed III (1703-1730) on Byzantine foundations. Bought by the foundation in 1991 and restored, it opened in 1994; since 2016 it has borne the name of Mustafa V. Koç. Machinery, scientific instruments, communication devices and toys are shown here.
The Hasköy shipyard
Built in 1861 by the Şirket-i Hayriye, the Bosphorus steamer company, to maintain and repair its ships, it was bought in 1996, restored to its original state and added to the museum in 2001.
The Golden Horn boat tour
Weather permitting, the museum offers a trip aboard the Kont Ostrorog, a former Black Sea fishing boat converted into a pleasure boat (250 TL, students 150 TL).
