The big park: Isfanbul

Isfanbul, formerly Vialand, is Istanbul's largest theme park: more than twenty rides, including the Nefeskesen roller coaster (110 km/h) and the Justice Tower drop tower, plus an adjoining shopping mall. The ticket covers the rides. One caution: the prices published in the Turkish press (about 1,999 TL for adults in 2026) are those for Turkish citizens; we found no official price list for foreigners, and booking platforms sold the ticket at around 60 USD in 2025. Check before you come. It takes 45 minutes to an hour from Sultanahmet: give it a whole weekday.

The Istanbul Aquarium in Florya

The Istanbul Aquarium, in Florya, offers a 17-zone route, some 17,000 animals and gentoo penguins. An adult ticket costs 1,000 TL, 900 TL from 2 to 18, free under 2; family tickets exist online (2,900 TL for three, 3,800 TL for four). "Resident" prices apply only to Turkish citizens. Open daily, 10am to 7pm on weekdays and 10am to 8pm at weekends; Marmaray to Florya Akvaryum. Do not confuse it with the Emaar Aquarium in Üsküdar, in a shopping centre on the Asian side, whose posted prices are "for local visitors only".

Museums for playing

  • The Göztepe Toy Museum: a five-storey mansion founded by the poet Sunay Akın, with dolls, trains, cars and antique toys. Foreign ticket 420 TL, 360 TL from age 3; closed on Mondays.
  • The Rahmi M. Koç Museum, in Hasköy: cars, locomotives, aircraft and boats, with a moored ferry you can board. Closed on Mondays.
  • Miniatürk, in Sütlüce: 139 open-air models of monuments, a playground and a small train. 900 TL for foreign visitors; closed on Mondays; card or Istanbulkart payment only.

Madame Tussauds: closed

The wax museum on İstiklal Avenue closed in December 2024. Ticketing sites that still sell it are out of date: see our page on Madame Tussauds Istanbul for alternatives.

Practical tips

  • On Mondays, the Toy Museum, Rahmi M. Koç and Miniatürk are closed: keep the aquarium or Isfanbul for that day.
  • Foreign prices: always ask for the "yabancı" or "foreign visitor" price at the ticket desk or on the official site; a price read in the Turkish press is often the resident one.
  • In wet weather, the aquarium and the museums are the safest bets: see what to do in Istanbul when it rains.
  • Transport: children under 7 travel free; details in Getting around Istanbul.
