Choosing your palace
On the Bosphorus, in Beşiktaş
The Çırağan Palace, now a hotel, is the most emblematic address: a former Ottoman palace on the strait. The other Beşiktaş palaces are next to Dolmabahçe; the area is described in our guide to Beşiktaş. Allow a taxi or a tram to reach Sultanahmet.
In Karaköy: The Peninsula
It occupies four historic buildings near Galataport, within walking distance of the Galata Tower. It is the best choice if you want restaurants and museums within walking range.
Raffles, for the spa
The Raffles Istanbul sits in the Zorlu Center complex, on a hill: less water view, but a large spa.

Before you book
- Ask for a "Bosphorus view" room: the rate difference is often significant.
- Look at the breakfast plan and the airport transfer.
- For former palaces, check whether the room is in the historic building or the modern wing.
- Compare with the more affordable addresses in our selection by budget.
